LATEST ENGLISH NEWS. London, January 11. It is announced that Sir John Holker, K.C.B. and M. P. for Preston, who was Attorney-General in the Beaconsfield Administration, has been appointed to succeed the late Robert Lush as Lord Justice of Appeal. The search for arms in the proclaimed distiicts of Ireland is being vigorously carried out by the police. At Cork yesterday an extensive seizure of rifles and other weapons, which had been concealed in a vault, was m Me. A quantity of dynamite was also found in the same place, and was confiscated by the police. Further extensive seizure of arms have been made by the police at Tralee, in County Ketry, and Clonmel, in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is announced that the Marquis of Lome will return to Canada at an early date. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, January 11. The ship Melanhope, which ran aground in the south channel yesterday, floated off to-day. Another case of small-pox, has occurred among the Garonne’s passengers at the quarantine station. The sufferer is a passenger named Prene, a Dane. Two more cases of sickness are regarded as suspicions, and have been isolated. All the patients are progressing favorably. Later. All the small-pox patients at the qiiaram ine station are progressing favorably. No flesh cases have occurred. January 12.
