[NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, December 30; The New Zealand Shipping Co'mp'any received a telegram confirming the safe' arival of the Waipa. The Liberty was not published to-day,' and it is understood it is defnfrct. Anewspaper will be started of the same kind, under the title of " Society." A telegram received this evening? from Mr Hannay, manager of railways in Christchurcb, states that an engine and seven waggons of the south goods train to Clinton left the rails one mile north of Kaihaka. The fireman— Roodman—was killed. The driver— Carter—was bruised, and the pumper slightly injured. Considerable damage was done to the road ■which is being cleared as soon as possible. The cause of the accident is unknown.
