THE CHILDREN'S NEW YEAR'S DAY PICNIC.

A general meeting of the Children's New Year's Day Picnic Committee was held in the Town Hall last evening; present—Mr R. J. Seddon (in the chair), Messrs Toms, O'rlagan (Mayor), Burger, Pierson, Rudkin, and Robiusou (Secretary). The tender of Mr J. S< Pearn was accepted for the right to construct a booth for the disposal of liquor. The action of the sub committee with the bakers was approved of; as was also the action of Mr Seddon with tho Ross Brass Band and Dramatic Club. The Chairman and such members of committee as could make it convenient were authorised to canvass the town for money or goods for prizes for the children. Messrs Seddon, Toms, Burger, and O'Hagan were delegated to arrange for the erection of swings. The meeting then adjourned.
