[\ T E\V .ZEALAND PHESS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, December 21. The steamers Jane Douglas, Stormbird, and Mariawatu, belonging to the Wellington-Waug:mui line of steamers, were sold by auction to-day. The prices obtained were Jane Douglas, £3OOO ; Stormbird, £SOO ; and Mana* watu, £250. Wanganui, December 22. There is a very heavy fresh in the river, which rose suddenly in the night and carried away the punt containing a new steam crane, just made for use in connection with the dredge. The crane was seen goir,g over the bar, and it is feared the pant has capsized. A number of small boats have been carried away, the boat houses and staging being broken up, and other damage done.Ashburton, December 21. Richard Lincaster, a butcher, was today fined £1 by the KM. for a breach of the Gaming and Lotteries Act. He had held a raffle amongst friends on opening a new business, the prize being a whole sheep and three' large loaves of brread.
