It is officially stated that 917 persons who were present at the theatre on the night of the Bth "inst. are missing, and it is feared - that the total loss of life amounts to that number. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis reporting that heavy rains have fallen in that country, causing severe floods in many paits, and that the operations of the French troops against the insurgents are in consequence . temporarily suspended. Loxdon, December 12. The Times to-day publishes a telegram from Afghanistan stating that dissension has arisen among the adherents of the Ameer, Abdul Rahman. The discontent is chiefly manifesting itself among the Durante tribes. Washington, Decemher 9. The convention providing for the exchange and money order system between the United States and New Zealand and New South Wales, was signed to-day by the President.

The cricket mutch between the English team and the eleven of New South Wales was continued to-day. The local team whip all disposed of for 210 in the first innings, of which Murdoch contributed 58. At the cldse of the day's play the Englishmen had put together 145 runs for the loss of six wickets, Midwinter being not out for 45, and Barlow not out for 26.
