BRITISH AND FOREIGN. r,ONi>ON, December 9. The Lord Mayor of London invites national subscriptions to assist in the defence of property in Ireland. A serious collision occurred to-day between three traiua on the North Londou Railway, resulting in the loss of nine Uvea, and injuries of more or less serious nature to sevetal of the passengers. Vienna. December 9. Five hundred corpses in all have now been extricated from the scene of last night's fire at the Theatre, and it is feared that the total loss of life must be fully 750. + . LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, December 10. The cricket match between the English team and the eleven of New South Wales was continued to-day at Moore Park. The attendance was veiy large, and great interest was taken in the event. The Englishmen resumed thenfirst inuings, which closed for 272, Barlow being bowled for 75, and Scotton bowled for 25. The play of the visitors was ranch admired. The New South Wales eleven went iu for their first innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day they had put together 164 for the loss of three wickets.
