LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, November 22
The Age to-day publishes a paragraph noting that a deficiency of ,£sooo' was recently discovered in the books of the Union Bank of Australia, and that an official who was implicated has since returned the money. In connection with the recent disclosures in the Bank of Victoria, it is stated that Matheson, general manager, retires from -his position, and that Shann, the local manager in Melbourne, has resigned. Later. The manager of the Union Bank declares that there is no foundation for the statement in the Age of to-dtv, regarding the defalcations in that institution.
It is stated that Mr W. M. K. Yale, who was attorney-Gerieral in the Berry administration, and recently 'resigned his seal in the Legislative Assembly, intends to proceed shortly to New Zealand, and to practice at the bar in that colonv.
New Zealand feeding oats' are unchanged at 3s 7d, and milling sorts at 3s 10J.
