At the mile post Dauphin led, with the Peeress colt second, Louis d’Or third, and Grip still last. At tne far side of the course Grip began to improve his position slightly, and at the turn the Dauphin and Peeress colt were close together, Louis d’Or still third, and Grip coming. Just as the horses. came near the carriages Bob Derrett began to send Grip klong, and he went through his horses, gradually forging ahead into the lead, ■With the Dauphin second, the Peeress colt third, and Louis d’Or fourth, both the latter having evidently had enough of it. A fine race ensued between Grip and the Dauphin from here to the post, the former, however, who was ridden most artistically by Derrett, would not be denied, and won by a length from Dauphin. The Peeress colt and Louis d’Or beaten off. Time, 4min. 6-lsecs.
