Melbourne, November 19. Information has been received that five men-of-war will shortly visit the colonies. Two of the vessels are, it is stated, under orders to proceed direct to Auckland. Brisbane, November 19. Eight escapees from the French penal settlement at New Caledonia have been captured at Fraser Bland, off the coast of-this colony, near Maryborough. The escapees had been thirteen days at sea in an open boat. They were brought up at the. Maryborough Police Court to-day, and remanded to Brisbane.
