The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1881.

To-morrow, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. the electors of the Arahura Riding whose names are on the recently-printed County Roll will be enabled to record their votes for the election of three members to serve in the Westland County Council on behalf of this riding for the ensuing three years. It is not our intention to enumerate the qualifications of each particular candidate. The substance of the speeches and views of each of the nine gentlemen who were nominated at Stafford Town yesterday week have been as fully reported in these columns as our space has permitted. We have done our duty in this respect, and we shall now leave the 1334 persons who are entitled to vote to use their pens to-morrow as they may think proper. Every meeting has been numerously attended, showing that the miners as a body have great interest in the result of the elections, and when we kuow the respective merits of the several candidates are daily and even hourly discussed in their various homes and haunts, wedeem it not necessary for us to dilate upon the respective merits of the candidates. We do intend, however, to point out one featnre iu the election. For the past three years this riding has been represented by one member from this end of the district and two from the other. There are more eligible candidates at (his end than ever stood before ; and as the voting power at The Lead exceeds by nearly 100 votes all the rest of the riding put together, there is a possibility and even a probability that the three successful candidates who head

the poll may be residents a-': this end of the riding. We think it only fair to suggest that one member should be returned who hails from, and would better probably represent, the southern end of the district. The polling-booths are appointed at Cavell's boarding, house, Dilltnan's Town, and the Town Hall, Kumara. The names of the nine candidates will be found in our advertising columns.
