BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, October 31. Arrests of prominent agitators continue to be made in Ireland under the Viceroy's warrant. Among those recently placed in custody is Mr M'Hale, n Catholic priest. Berlin-, October 29. Elections to the German Reichstacr have resulted unfavorably for the Government, which h:is now no workinw majority in Parliament. Among the defeated Ministerial candidates was the son of Prince Bisinark. There has been a large increase in the number of Socialist candidates elected to the Reichstag. Viejjjta. October 28. The Italian and Austrian press has recently published mutually eulogistic articles in reference to the presen't meeting of King Humbert and the Emperor Francis Joseph. ♦ LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbouuxb, October 31. Santa Clans is greatly improved in the Cup betting, on account of his running in tlie Derby. The P. and O. Company's steamship Indus, arrived last evening with the English mails, which left London on the 23rd September. The following is the latest betting on the Cup :—Darebin, 3 to 1 ; Waxy, 4 to 1 ; Duchess, 12 to 1 ; Odd Trick, 50 to 3.
