GREY COUNTY COUNCIL.

The folllowing business transacted at the meeting of the Grey County Council yesterday, and which pertains to this district, is from the Argus:— Cr. Foley brought under the notice of the Council the necessity for repairing the approach to the wire suspension foot bridge at the Greenstone. The culverts were rotten, and the approach impassable in wet weather. Ordered that an amount not exceeding .£lO be voted. A. good deal of discussion ensued on an application by Cr. Foley to spend ■£6 on the track from Greenstone to Bruce's paddock; but the motion was ultimately agreed to. Cr. Foley suggested the services of the police be enlisted in compelling Chinese to take out miners' rights, and moved that the authorities be written to on the matter wish the view of ascer-. taining whether the police would be allowed to act in such a capacity.—Carried. The Chairman moved—" That tenders be cilled for the repairs of the horse track from the mouth of Greenstone Creek, along to the north bank of the Teremakau river, provided the settlers whose farms will be benefited by the work, pay one-third of the cost."—Carried.

Foley moved—" That a survey for track be made from Lkmce's paddock to Evans' homestead, Lake Paroa, distance half-a-mile, and that tenders be called for construction of the track when the survey is completed."
