The third reading of the Representation Bill was resumed at 7.30 p.m., by Mr Taiaroa, who was followed by several other speakers.—The question for the third reading as against the amendment was then put, and on a division there voted Ayes, 48; noes, 20. A second division on the third reading resulted— Ayes, 48 ; noes, 19. On the question that the Bi'l do not pass. Mr Seddon moved addition of the words " provided it shall have no force or effect until after the next general election."

The Speaker ruled that this was substantially the same as a proposal already negatived that the Bill should not come into force until after next session of Parliament. He could not therefore receive it.
