LATEST FOREIGN NEWS. Calcutta, September 1. The prompt advance of the Ameer Abdul Rahman, is causing a reaction in his favor among the Native tribes in the neighborhood of Khelat, who are assisting him with money and arms. FRIGHTFUL MARINE CASUALTY. Capetown, August 31. Telegrams are to hand from Port Elizabeth, reporting that the steamer Fenton, 1088 tons, owned by the Union Steamship Company, has been wrecked at Quori Point, in the neighborhood of Algoa Bay. The vessel is reported to bave had fully 200 persons on board, and ot these only 27 have been saved. The news of the disaster has caused great excitement throughout the Colony.
LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS.
Sydney, August 31. At the Water Police Court, yesterday, a prisoner named Annie Burns was found to be suffering from smallpox, and was at once placed in charge of the health officers for removal to the quarantine station. There was great excitement in Court when the discovery was made.
September 1. The latest bulletin from the quarantine station states that Clement Lindsay, one of the patients confined on board the Hospital ship Faraway, died last night. All the rest on board are doing well. In the infected enclosure, Ellen Lindsay and Ally Trevoe are delirious. The others are progressing favorably. THE RAILWAY ACCIDENT NEAR MELBOURNE. Melbourne, August 31. All the persons who were injured at the Joliraont railway accident, yesterday morning, are progressing favorably. It has transpired that the list of casualties, which includes the names of Messrs Edwards, Wright, and Edwards, is incorrect. The report should read MiEdwards, of the firm of Wright and Edwards, engineers, of this city.
