GI'BORNE, August 15. Two and a half tons of paraffin ward and a quantity of petroleum oil from the South Pacific iWdleum Oil Company were shipped per Te Anna on Friday last, to the directors of the Company in Sydney, for the purpose of thoroughly ascertaining their commercial value.
Auckland, August 15. A man named Montgomery, formerly manager for Sceats, of the British Hotel* has been arrested and charged with rape ou Mrs Sceats' daughter, a chili under 12 years old. The offence ia said to have been committed last April. The prisoner has been remanded.
