[special to kumara times.] MEETING OF WEST COAST MEMBERS. Wellington, August 3. Messrs Reeves, Gisborne, and Seddon were present at the meeting of West Coast members to day. Messrs Weston and Reid declined to attend, because Mr Seddon had called the meeting. It was decided to ask the assistance of the Nelson members. They will meet again to-morrow. Any disunion means the carrying of the Government proposals and a loss of one Westland member. Mr P. Dungan, returns by steamer today. 4. [new ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, August 1. The body of Edward Clark, drowned at Rangiriri last December, was found in the river minus the head, legs, and arms. Dunedin, August 2. The Jockey Club have bought Forbnry Paik for £30,000-, £2OOO in six months, and £28,000 to remain as a loan at fonr-and-a-half per cent. The Jockey Club will get £SOO of the £2OOO returned in order to improve the property by planting, &c. A WELLINGTON LAND LEAGUE MEETING. Wellington, August 1. A public meeting was held this evening to express sympathy with the tenant farmers of Ireland, and the Irish National Land League, in their constitutional struggle to maintain an existence on the soil which they cultivate. His Worship the Mayor occupied the chair. Among those on the stage were Sir George Grey, Bishop Redwood, Messrs Sheehan, London, Tawhai, Speight, M‘Donald, Ballance, Shepherd, Harris, Jones, Tole, and Montgomery, M.H.Rs. Several other members were present in the body of the theatre. The following resolutions were passed ; Mr Speight moved, and Mr Maginnity seconded—“ That this meeting expresses its deep sympathy with the objects of the Irish Land League, and with the efforts the Irish people are making to obtain the right of occupying on just conditions, the land on which they were horn; upon which they are dwelling, and the produce which affords them the only means of their maintaining life.” Mr Sheehan moved, and Mr Tawh.d seconded—“ That, this meeting desires to express its disapproval of the passing of the Coercion Act; which deprives the Irish peop e of the liberty which is proclaimed to be the birthright of every British subject.” Mr Ballance moved, and Mr Cooper seconded—“ That this meeting pledges itself to give substantial aid to the Lisii National Land League to enable them to give assistance, to the evicted tenants and families of the imprisoned.”

Mr Fisher moved, and Mr Lundon seconded—“ That the ladies present be invited to form a committee for the purpose of opening a subscription-list in aid of the Ladies’ Land League, and of drawing Op an address of sympathy to Miss Anna Parnell and the ladies of the Land League, to be forwarded with whatever money be raised as soon as possible.” Mr Tole moved, and Mr Shaw seconded—“ That in order to give effect to the foregoing resolutions, this meeting deems it advisable to establish a branch of the land league in Wellington, for the purpose of securing just legislation on all questions relating to land.” After Bishop Redwood and Sir George Grey had addressed the meeting, it closed with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman.
