We are compelled to hold over a report of the Hospital Committee meeting held last evening, Warden's . Court business, telegrams, and other items, till to-morrow. In a paragraph yesterday we stated that the person accused yesterday morning of indecent assault, was committed for trial at the next session of the Supreme Court. We were in error; it should have read next sitting of the District Court, at Hokitika. This will be on the Bth of August next. . The mail coach left the Bealey this morning at the usual early hour, and arrived at the post-office here at 3.15 p.m. At the Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, Martin- Ryder was charged with assaulting his wife. The evidence disclosed a painful case of domestic infelicity. The husband was proved to have beaten his wife in the most disgraceful manner, while on the other side it was shown that the wife was in the habit of hitting her husband with a stick, and of "firing" stones at him. The defendant was lined £2, or in default, twenty-one days' imprisonment, and was bound over to keep the peace for six months. Attheßesident Magistrate's Court to-day, before J. O'Hagan, Esq., J.P., Lotty Willshire was charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Lizzie Reece, at Dillman's Town, last evening. On the application of the police accused was remanded till Friday, the informant having been removed to the Hospital for medical treatment, suffering from a severe cut in the face inflicted with a glass candlestick.

Tenders are required by the Borough Council for clearing, grubbing, draining, and fencing the Recreation Ground, before noon to-morrow week.

The second volume of Duffey's work on " Young Ireland " will be ready for publication in November.

A Volunteer rifle match held at Dublin resulted in a victory for the English team, which defeated the Irish by 33 points.

During the passage of the steamship John Elder, from Plymouth, some thief stole a gold watch and a lot of medals from the Roman Catholic Bishop of Adelaide. The watch was a present from the Pope.

Father Malonie, a Catholic priest of Erie, Pennsylvania, is again credited with a miraculous cure. His last patient is a man named James Burns, who for years suffered from paralysis to such an extent that he could not stand up. Father Maloney laid his hands upon him, ordered him to arise and walk, and the man was soom out in the streets giving thanks to the priest for his miraculous cure.
