London, July 9. The deaths are announced of the Right Hon. W. P. Wood, Baroi, Hatherley, formerly Lord Chancellor
of Great Britain, and of General Sir Richard Waddock, K.C.B. PARis, July 9. Intelligence has been received from Tunis reporting that the French fleet before S¥akus is Still engaged in shelW ing the town. An attempt was made to-day to land a storming party under cover of the guns of the ships* The Arabs, however, who were in strong force, opened a heavy fire upon the boat*, and the troops failed to effect a landing.
