The mail coach from Christchurch left the Bealey this morning at the customary hour, and arrived at the Kumara postoffice at 3.15 p.m. The annual meeting of subscribers and ticket-holders to the Kumara Hospital will be held in the Town Hall this evening, at 8 o'clock. The balance-sheet and committee's report for the past year will be submitted, and nominations received for the election of a committee of management for the ensuing year. All subscribers of 10a and upwards are entitled to nominate a candidate. We hope to see a large attendance. The present committee have worked energetically and well ; and it is of great importance, if any changes are made, that equally active and zealous men be chosen for the ensuing year. The committee whose term of office now expires are desired to meet at the Secretary's rooms this evening, at 7 o'clock. A. meeting of the Barton Testimonial Committee was held at Mr Skillon's store last evening, his Worship the Mayor in the chair. There was a good attendance from all parts of the district, and favorable reports were received from the gentlemen who had been appointed to canvass for subscriptions. The canvass had not yet been completed, but a few more days would finish the work. The meeting adjourned till Thursday evening, 21st inst. A miner named A Campbell, working at Bullock Creek, near Haast River, met with an accident some three weeks a»o which resulted in the breaking of one of his legs. He was working in a tunnel and was almost covered with a fall of earth.
