WARDEN'S COURT.

Monday, July 4,

[Before H. A. Stratford, Esq., Warden.] The Court opened at 8 p.m. Hannan v. Mahoney and party.— Defendants were sued for cancellation of the certificate for a head-race.— Judgment was given to the effect that the race had been abandoned, but the fine of 10s was substituted for forfeiture.

Surgener v. Mahoney and party.— This was a claim for the cancellation of the certificate for a head-race, on the ground that it had lapsed. There was also a claim for damages, which were estimated at £5 10s.—Mr Byrne appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Hannan for the defendants.—Evidence was taken, aud the case was dismissed. The following applications were dealt with : SREENSTONE. E. Surgener applied for a tail-race at Hayes Terrace—Objected to by Mahoney and party. —Mr Hannan appeared for the objectors,,—Granted, subject to conditions. Tuesday, July 5. The Court opened at 9 a.m. T. Candy applied for a residence area at Greenstone.—Granted conditionally. W. Ryan applied for the registration of a tunnel.—This was objected to by Losich and party (through Mr Hannan). —The objection was withdrawn, and the application granted. KUMARA. Messrs Barrett, Irwin, Jones, Hunter, and Pollock applied for amalgamation.— The Warden ruled that in accordance with the regulations, he had no power to grant the application. The application of Lee and party for an extended claim was adjourned to allow the Warden to visit the ground.
