[NEW ZEALAND PRKSS ASSOCIATION. 1 Dunedin, June 22. Sir Julius Vogel has presented a South African diamond embedded in clay, to the Otago Museum. In his letter he added :—".lt is hope that this little specimen may lead to a search for diamonds in New Zealand. A high authority has told me it ia almost certain diamonds are to be found in New Zealand. I should like if possible that the Ofcago Museum should lend the specimen to someone at Hokitika, and at the Thames, in order to exhibit it for a short time, so as the miners of those places, as well as the miners of Otago should see it; but I leave this purely to the discretion of the Museum.'* The Vinegar Hill claim, St. Bathans, has yielded .£IOO per month for eighteen months. Ashcroft's patent quartz-crusher is being tested at the local Exhibition. It is well spoken of by persons interested in that class of mining. Nelson, June 21. It was announced this morning that the Colonist newspaper will be issued as a daily inoruing paper, commencing iu July.
