BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, June 21. In the House of Commons to-day, the Right Hon. W. E. GlacUone, in reply to a question, confirmed the announcement made by the Daily News on the 17th instant, that representations had been made to the United States Government on the subject of the operations of Fenians in England and America. In the House of Commons to-night, the third clause of the Irish Land Bill was, after further debate, passed in Committee. The Government is now meeting the views of the opponents of the measure in a conciliatory spirit, iti order to facilitate its passage. Paris, June 20. Two hundred students were, to-day, arrested at Marseilles for having taken part in the recent disturbances. Rome, June 20. Intense excitement prevails throughout Italy over the occurrences at Marseilles. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, June 22. Owing to the absence of nny fresh case, of small-pox, the public scare in regard to the outbreak has considerably subsided. ' News has been received from the Islands that the chief murderer of Lieut. Brown has been caught, and executed at the scene of the Sandfly massacre. Melbourne, June 22. The motion cf want of confidence was not brought on in the Assembly last night, as was expected. A desultory discussion took place in regard to

the proposed motion, but nothing definite was decided. It is considered probable, however, that it will be introduced to-day by Sir Bryan O'Loughlin or Mr Grant. In the Legislative Council to-day, after further debate, the Land Tax Bill was finally rejected.
