■ —♦- [NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, June 21. A. R. Eva, who was let off by the Bench yesterday, was araested on a warrant to-day, for wife desertion. Two children of a passenger from Dunedin, by the Wakatipu to Sydney, were attacked by measles on the voyage up, and the whole family (six) were quarantined. Dunedin, June 21. A man named John M'Elhenny has been killed by a train on the Caversham road running over him. Deceased who was drunk, attempted to cross the line while in front of cars, which were going at the rate of only a mile an hour. Wellington, June 21. Dr. Skae is seriously ill, suffering from a severe attack of erysipelas. Auckland, June 21. The City of New York arrived from Sydney this morning. She was placed in quarantine, and there has been no communication with her yet. The outward mails and passengers will be placed ou board at once. Later. She left for 'Frisco this afternoon. The passengers for New Zealand were quarantined, and the mails aro being fumigated. There has been no sickness in the City of New York, but the passengers are to be quarantined for twelve days from their departure from Sydney. The outward passengers were taken down to the steamer at the quarantine ground. The steamer leaves to-night or early in the morning. The Australian passengers were quarantined. They are— Messrs Meais, Dargaville and son, Sheard, Smith, Axlara, Michel, Famout, Clark, and Mrs Koumiston.
