The following is the division list on the question that the poll tax on the arrival of Chinese remains at £lo: —Ayes 24—Messrs Atkinson, Bryce, Colbeck, Collins, Dick, Fulton, Gibbs, Gisborne, Hall, Hirst, H. (Wallace), Hursthouse, Johnston, Levestam, Lundon, M'Lean, Murray, Pitt, Reid, fiolleston, Saunders, Studholcue, Swanson, Trimble. Noes 23 Alwright, Bain, Ballance, Fisher, J. B. (Buller), Fisher, ,T. T. (Heathcote), Fox, Harris, Hutchison, Jones, Kelly, Macandrew, Mason, Montgomery, Moss, Ormond, Richardson, Russell, Shephard, Speight, Sutton, Stevens. Thomson, Tole, Whitaker. [One name is evidently omitted, probably Sir George Grey's, as he had already spoken briefly against the Chinese question.] THE LICENSING BILL. The House resumed at 7.30. On the motion for committing the Licensing Bill, Dr. Wallis addressed the House at length, urging the claims for compensation where a license was abolished by local option, and freely criticising the provisions of the Bill. The House went into Committee on the Bill. Clauses 1 to 11 passed as printed. On clause 12, sub-section 1, Sir W. Fox proposed as an amendment, that the Licensing Committee shall consist of persons who shall be annually elected by the ratepayers of the district. On a division, 19 voted for the clause as printed, and 34 for the amendment. Ayes 19—Atkinsou, Brandon, Colbeck, Collins, Dick, Gibbs, Hall, Hursthouse, Johnston, Kelly, Levestam, Pitt, Reid, Rolleston, Stevens, Studholme, Sutton, Trimble, White. Noes 34—Andrew, Bain, Ballance,

On clause 3(3, the effecting Club licenses, Mr Levestam moved that the 1 hours for the sale of liquor be restricted from si* in the morning to 12 at night. After considerable discussion, this was agreed to on the Voices, arid the clause as amended was passed. At 12.35 progress was reported, add the House adjourned.
