There was some difficulty in bringing him to the top, as he was in a state of unconsciousness. He is now recovered. THE LOCAL BODIES' CONFERENCE "Wellington, June 13. The following resolutions have been passed by the Local Bodies Conference : —Moved by Gisborne, seconded by Daniels—(l). "That Crowu lands buildings should be rated, and the proceeds equally distributed among the local bodies in the district in which the rate is raised ; (2). That County Conncils be subsidised by the colony at per mile of main road maintained by them; (3). That County Councils should have a representative on Waste Lands Boards ; (4). That in Counties consisting chiefly of goldfields the twenty per cent land revenue taken away by the Financial Arrangements Act, 1880, should be restored to County Councils."

It was proposed by Carson, seconded by Phillips—" That a subsidy of £ for £ on the expenditure on new works approved by Government be grauted to local bodies for the construction only of new works, such as roads, bridges, &c."

Moved by Linton, seconded by Carson members of the Conference be a deputation to the Government with the resolutions passed by the conference; and press upon the Government the advisability of the principles embodied therein being legislated upon during the coming session." A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman and M*Arthur, who originated the Conference.
