KUMARA HOSPITAL.

A meeting of the Hospital Committee was held last evening at the Secretary's room, Main street; present —Messrs Pearn, (in the chair), Toms, Morris, Spyer, Mansfield, Kiely, Agnew, and the Secretary; The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter from the House Committee was read and received, as follows :

To the Hospital Committee.

Gentlemen—We have visited the Hospital on several occasions during the past fortnight, and have found everything satisfactory in connection with the management. We desire, however, to call your attention to the fact that during the past month we have had to refuse admission orders to several deserving cases solely on account of there not being room in the Hospital for any more beds. We would therefore suggest that patients who are in the opinion of the medical officer sufficiently convalescent as to only require out-door treatment should be at once discharged, in order to make room for others who are equally entitled to the Hospital benefits. During the past month we have recommended for admission two cases, one of which has been discharged and the other was admitted yesterday. Mrß Barber about ten days since left the Hospital on her own responsibility and in direct opposition to the Doctor's orders. We therefore call your attention to the circumstance. A letter was read and received from Mr John Hooker, and the Secretary was instructed to inform him that on account of there being no room in the Hospital, the Committee cannot grant bis request. It was moved and carried "That the Report from the Committee appointed to visit the Greenstone be received, and thanks tendered them for carrying the business of gaining the Greenstone people as subscribers to this Hospital to a successful issue." It was resolved that all orders for goods required for the Hospital should be sent through the Secretary. The following subscriptions were handed in, by Mr Pearn, £3 ■ Mr Morris, £2; Mr Kiely, £3; Mr Agnew, £1 10s; the Secretary, £lO Bs—total, £l9 18s. The Wardsman's report for the month was read and received, it showed that the number of patients received into the Hospital for the month ending June 6th was—Males 3, females 1; number discharged, 4; number of patients remaining under treatment, 8. Accounts to the amount of £lO4 3s 6d were passed for payment; and the meeting adjourned.
