KUMARA GOLDFIELD WATERSUPPLY.
A meeting of the Water-supply Committee was held at Dillman’s Town last Thursday evening, the following members being present—-Messrs Agnew, Wheeler, Oreeber, Morris, Dungan (Chairman), and M'Kenzie (Secretary). The minutes of the preceding meeting having been read and confirmed, Mr R. M'Kenzie stated that he had not yet received any communication from the Government in answer to the last letter sent by him on behalf of the committee, pointing out the great want of increased water-supply to the Kumara goldfield. The Chairman drew attention to a matter held open from the last meeting for further consideration— that of communicating with the Representatives of the district regarding the important question of an immediate larger supply of water to this goldfield, and of giving their best attention to the subject at the next meeting of Parliament. Mr Agnew thought it was a step in the right direction j the committee was but doing its duty to the public in reminding their Representatives of the matter. Mr Creeber hoped that Mr Gisborne’s name would be also included; they might reckon upon his warmest support. Messrs Morris and Wheeler agreed with the views expressed ; they wanted
all the assistance to be had in pushing ahead their urgent claims in the proper quarter. A resolution was then passed authorising the Secretary to write to Messrs Seddon, Reid, and Gisborne, intimating the action taken, and of the willingness of the committee to furnish data to the members (if required) upon a sufficient water-supply to the Kumara goldfield. The Secretary stated that should any communication be received from Government he would at once call the committee together. - The committee then adjourned till Thursday, the 26th inat.
