BRITISH AND FOREIGN,

London, April 30. There has been an alarming increase in small-pox cases in London of late, and a great many deaths have .recently occurred from that disease, while a number of persons are now stricken down with it. The disease is now considered to have become epidemic.

Her Majesty the Queen paid a visit to-daj to ftnghenden Manor, the residence of the late Earl Beaconsfield, and viewed his Lordship’s grave. The Radical members of the House of Commons are strongly opposed to tire proposal to be made shortly by the Premier that funds be voted for the erection of a monument to the late Earl Beaconsfield in Westminster Abbey.

A second sculling match took place to-day between Edward Trickett and an oarsman named Kirby, resulting in another easy victory for Trickett. Capetown, April 30.
