Last evening it was reported to the police that a quantity of female apparel had been found at Waverley under circumstances which pointed to suicide. They have been identified as belonging to Emily Donaldson, aged 41, who left her home on Saturday, and who is known to have goce to Waverley that morning, and has not been heard of since. The police are dragging the harbor. "Wellington, April 12. At the Supreme Court to-day, George Miller, for larceny, was sentenced to two years; John M'Larney, for forgery and uttering, nine months; William Michael Downes, on a charge of fraudulently removing stamps from deeds, with a view to using such stamps again, was acquitted. This concluded the criminal calender. Auckland, April 11. At the inquest on Charles Weyenleben, a verdict of suicide while suffering from temporary . insanity was returned. A mail named Bowman, whose wife has a protection order against him, went to her residence in liquor, and drank sixpennyworth of laudanum. He was removed to the Hospital, and is now undergoing medical treatment. His wife is a decent and industrious woman, with two little children. Christchurcii, April 11. The police have been making a raid on the women of ill fame. Four were sentenced to a term of imprisonment last week, and four more to-day, three of them belonging to one family. Some disgusting disclosures were made during the hearing of the cane which are hardly credible. Mothers and children were all living together in one den of infamy. A business man, well known in the town is said to have taken a sudden departure by one of the New Zealand Shipping Company's vessels.
