BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, April 11. The Bey of of Tunis lias formally protested against the French violation of his territory, and has applied to the Powers for protection. Parnell has written a letter on the subject of the Irish Land Bill which has been introduced in the House of Commons. He says that the measure is seriously defective, and the wood derivable from it depends entirely upon the firmness of the people in their adherence to the Land League. He denounces the clauses of the Bill providing for making grants to facilitate emigration. A bulletin issued this morninc reports that Earl Beacons Geld has had a severe attack of spasmodic breathing but has since been greatly relieved by the same. St. Petersburg, April 11. Rousakoff, the assassin of the late
Czar, and his accomplices, have been sentenced to death. *■ — LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, April 11. A conference of the committees of the Legislative Council and Assembly met again to-day, when a long discussion took place upon the Reform Bill. Berry, offered to amend the same, fixing the franchise for leaseholders and occupiets at £lO. Sir Charles Sladen, however, stood out for £lO owners and £25 for occupiers. The matter was debated for some time, but without any decision being arrived at, and the conference finally adjourned till to-morrow. It is generally considered that it is improbable that the conference will ai-rive at a satisfactory settlement.
