[-NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, April 1. A valuable coal seam has been discovered at Russell by Frank Morrin, on Crown land. The Customs’ revenne for the port of Auckland for the year ending March 31, is £235,000, or £22,000 increase on the previous year. Mrs Hampton left for Dunedin, to commence her mission there. MTvor, agricultural chemist, has returned from White Island. He reports favorably on the sulphur deposits. The Southern Cross brought a new and important consignment from Fiji. The new hotel at Kamo, Whangarei, has been burned down, the owner lost everything. He was to have opened last evening. Wellington, April 1. Parliament will be further prorogued from the 19th inst. to some date in May, but it will not then be called for the despatch of business.
