[By Telegraph.] London, February 10. The remains of the late Thos. Carlyle have been interred at his native village, Ecclefecban, it Drumfriesshire. February 11. The Queen and the Prince of Wales intend permitting their pictures, now on view at the Melbourne Exhibition} to be exhibited in Adelaide during the proposed South Australian Exhibition. February 13. Further diplomatic revelations have been made in connection with Russian designs in Central Asia in 1876. The correspondence shows that Russia was prepared to divide Central Asia with England on certain conditions. The Basutos have been effectually subdued and are now preparing for an armistice. Capetown, January 10. It is rumored the Boers intend marching on Barkly, Griqualand West. The British troops are anxiously expected. The sympathy with the Boers which prevailed in Natal, has undergone strong revulsion, owing to the reports of the atrocities committed by them during the attack on Potcbesfshoom, also on the 94th regiment. The Natal Mercury publishes an article, stating that the last spark of sympathy with the Boers has been quite obliterated and decided acrimony taken its place. From Basutoland there is little to report. A series of slight engagements occurred between the Boers and Colonial forces, in which' the latter were always victorious. An official report from Captain Lambert, of the 21st Scots Fusileers, shows Captain Elliott, paymaster of the 94tb regiment was brutally murdered by a Boer escort. Captain Lambert had also a very narrow escape on 13th January.
