We would draw attention to an alteration made in the outgoing mail service by which it will be seen that all mails in future for despatch in the morning will close at 10 p.m. the night previously. This alteration applies more especially to the Christchurch and English mails which hitherto have closed at 7 p.m., with the addition of a late fee to 5 a.m. the following morning. The extra fee is now abolished, and letters can be posted up to 10 p.m. the previous night. The monthly inspection of the local Rifle Contingent will be hold at the Adeliphi Hall this evening. A special meeting of the Hospital Committee will bo held to-morrow evening, to confirm the appointment of the medical officer appointed, vice Dr Acheson resigned.
