KUMARA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Committee of this society was held on Monday afternoon ; present—His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), Revs. Mr Hall, W. West, and E. A. Scott, Sergt. Emmerson, and Messrs Hannah, Pollock, and Wylde.
Letters were read—from Mr Dove, resigning his seat on the Committee; and from the Rev. Father Devoy, regretting that other engagements would preclude him from taking any part in the conduct of the society.
It -was resolved that Mr Stewart, of Dunedin Flat, be elected a member of tlie Committee, vice Mr Dove; and that the Rev. Mr Hall and Mr Brown till the places vacated by the Rev. Father M‘Caughey on the sub'-Cotu-rn it tee.
The report of the subcommittee showing that relief to the amount of £9 11s fid had been granted during the month of January to six persons, was Adopted. The Secretary stated that on the Ist inat.) there were five persons receiving relief.
The Secretary made a rough financial statement, showing a balance of assets over liabilities of about £35. Duriug the month of January, £l2 15s had been received to the credit of the Society, via,,—Main street) os; County Council, £l2 10s.
Accounts amounting to £23 14s fid were passed for payment. The meeting then a ljonrned.
