Christchurch, February 9. The weather continues splendid for harvesting which is going on rapidly. The quality o£ grain promises to be superior to any previous year. The thermometer to-day registered over 90° in the shade, Dunedin, February 9. A satisfactory arrangement has been arrived at between the members of the Seamen’s Union and Mr Mills, managing director of the Union Company. Port Chalmers is to be the final port of discharge for all seamen engaged in the Company’s service. Twenty-four hours notice to be given on either side at Port Chalmers, and men will no longer be liable to be discharge against their own desire at any New Zealand outports, or in Australia; the eight hours system is to be applied to the ports of Sydney, Melbourne, and Port Chalmers, where the families of most of the men reside; men willing to work after hours, when other labor scarce, on being paid overtime; at other ports the hours to he as before; no stipulations to be insisted on by men regarding the open roadstead ; men discharged here, and residing at other ports, to be allowed to work their passage back. The members of the Otago Bar intend to entertain Mr Justice Williams at a dinner on Tuesday, prior to his departure to England. AUSTRALIANS V. NELSON. Nelson, February 9. The cricket match, Nelson 22 v. Australian Eleven, commenced this afternoon. Nelson went first to the

wickets and were all disposed of for 83 runs, the highest scorers being S. Fowler 30> and Halliday 15.
