ARRIVAL OF THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL AT AUCKLAND.

Zealandia left San Francisco on June 7, the weather being fine throught until the evening of the 24th > afterwards south-west gales and heavy head sea until making the New Zealand coast) arriving at 8.30 p.m. The following is a summary of the news ; San Francisco, June ?. Keyger and Fried viz, defaulting London brokers, have disappeared. The Stanlay Stakes were won by Tristam! Loiillard'sPapaw, 2> Voluptuary, 3. Lorillard's Iroquois won the Two Year Old Stakes on May 27, beating Count Lagrange's Elixir easily by four lengths.' The Gold Cup was won by Fashion by about a length ,• Patole, 2 ; Master Kildare, 3. The Acton Stakes, for two year olds, were wori by Angelina; Thecia, 2; Papaw 3. Lorillard's Geraldine is scratched for the Epsnm snmmar meeting. Parole (same owner) will carry 1261bs against Lord Hasting's Master in the Royal Hunt Cup Race. Kinsman, a celebrated mare and winner of several races in England and on the Gontinent, is dead. A match has been arranged between America and the United Kingdom, tinder the auspices of the Royal Rifle Association, to take place on the last day of the Wimbleton meeting, at 800, 900, and 1000 yards, 15 shots each. Mr Rowell, pedestrian, offers to compete with any American walker for from £SOO to £IOOO aside, but says the international match between himself, Hart, Brown, aud Dober cannot be arranged at present, as Brown's backer is unable to leave Englaud, and invites Hart, Dober, and the others to England. Brett Harte's speech at the Royal Academy dinner was pronounced a failure. The Times was the only paper that gave any notice of it, but very briefly. ■ The speaker was imperfectly heard and read from MSS. One paper said that Harte made some humorous remarks. All the persons missing after the fire in the Grey's Inn Road have been heard from. By an explosion at Birdell's Hall Iron Works on May 15, 25 persons wereTcilled and 60 injured. Harvest prospects are good throughout Ireland. An immense area has been planted with potatoes, which, as new seed has been extensively used, came up well. The Irish Home Relief Fund Committee report on haud £23.000, but it will not last three weeks. Earl Cowper, who, with his committees, made a state entry into Dublin on 27th ult, gave £SOO to the Committee. The Chief Secretary for Ireland believes the measures taken for relief are sufficient, but intends to introduce a Bill to provide another three quarters of a million or a million and a half from the surplus church fund. Five hundred men of the Cork Militia Btoned a train from Kerry to Mallow, and on ifcd arrival beat the intending immigrants for America unmercifully arid ousted them: from their seats. Mr NeiTson l formerly of Melbourne fc has been arrested'in Sail' Francisco fur publishing a defamatory pamphlet con||grning Mayor J. M. Kalloch. A West Point cadet named Buck, from Texas, recently resented " laiking" by shooting one of his tormentors through the body. Adelaide Neilson, supported by Edward Ooniptun, commenced an enoa«ement at Baldwin's Gardens city. She will probably visit the Colonies by next steamer. The German ironclad* Mollca,Vonßtcb, and Bertha, havebeeenordored to China to reinforce the German squadron. The Quebec Legislative Assembly
have rejected a proposal to abolish the Legislative Council. A tremendous cyclone visited the town of Sevoy, on the line of the Texas Pacific Railway, and completely destroyed it, besides killing nine persons and wounding many others. General Wolseley proceeds to Balmoral to i-eceive the thanks of the Queen for his services at the Cape. It is stated he will receive the insignia of the highest class of the Order of the Bath.
