THE CHESS TOURNAMENT.
The chess tournament draws neat conclusion. In our last report it was stated that Mr R. M'Kenaie' was top scorer, with 8£ games won, bat that there was a possibility of Messrs* Wiesner (Class 2) and Bennett (Class 6) who had each wou s£, with 3 each td play, tieing M'Kenzie. This somewhat singular event has now actually takeri place, as will be seen by the following ' score I
It will be seen that neither of the" other four representatives of their re-» spective classes can now win as many games; therefore, Messrs M'Kenzie, and Bennett , beeome the winners of the prizes. The managing committee arranged that these three players should now contest two games with each other, on the same principle as the class competition, for Ist, 2nd, and 3rd prizes : and last night M'Kenzie defeated Wiesner two games. It is probable the whole affair will be finished in the course of thiß week.
