Wellington, June L The House met at 2.30. In reply to Mr George, the Treasurer said that £20,000 odd had as succession duty in the estate oflhe late W. R. Amendment Bill during the present session. Replying to Mr Hursthouse, the Colonial Secretary said the proclamations in force were sufficient for the purpose of preventing the spread of pleuro-ptieumonia from the North to the South Islauds. Replying to Mr Pyke,,Major AtkinBOn said there was no objection to lay iipon the table of the House eopies of the several Royal Commissions issued during the recess which have not been jgazetted.. Dr Wallis asked the Government t'« Btate the principle on which Government advertisements are given to newspapers. . Mr Hall replied thai a circular had been sent to the heads of departments to distribute the advertisements to all the leading newspapers, independent of any question of politics, aud he had no reason to suppose these instructions had hot been strictly obeyed.
