The Sydney Morning Herdd mentions that the Commissioner for the •Japanese Empire on March 24 presented to the Colony of New South.. Mr Hnrnp Sulcata, in a letter which accompanied the presentation, remaiksd:—"l hop;; that the. people, will not need to admire this collection long as a curiosity and antiquity of Japan, because my desire is,that every part of New South Wales may be tilled up with our natural and manufactured' articles soon in future, and under the. same view, about 40,000,000 friends in Japan will always love and Use the articles .produced and manufactuied here, so that the products of-;the two countries will soom become familiar to each other. As every one knows, the distance between the two countries is not very far, and if special arrange-1 rnents .be: made through the direct j ioute,.the mutual communication can be effected in about three weeks, arid consequently the national intercourse between the two countries will be iiv ! creased more and more hereafter." It is stated that some of the vases arid cabinets presented have a very high price placed upon. them, varying from £25 to .£75. I
