Le Loup won , after a Capital race by a lepgth, Tera second On Hit third. The next race was the Autumn Handicap—Nine started, viz, man, Camballo, Mata, Betrayer, Foul Play, Titania, Volunteer, Marie . Antoinette, and Laura. Camballo won by a length, Mata second, Betrayer a middling .third-. The nekt race was tlie Champagne Stakes, Sir Modred ,#as, the favorite, and justified his confidence, winning by a very little, Luna second, Virginia Water third. Richard Webb, a clerk in the NeW Zealand Insurance Company, Nelson, was arrested by the police at Lyttelton, on the arrival of the Maori from Nelson, on a charge of embezzlement of monies belonging to the Company.
