——.* s The ft. ing for the selection of a .member to represent the local Rifle Contingent at the New Zealand Rifle Association meeting, which will be Reid in Nelson on Monday, Ist March, .took place at. the Kiunara rifle range on Saturday last. The squads fired at 6 a.ra. and 2 p.m'., under the following conditions Seven shots at 200", 500, and 60# yards; Wimbledon..targets, ,1873, and scoring. As the 600 yards range had not been tried by any of the Competitors for the last twelve months, the scoring at that range was better than expected, though on the whole it was not up to the average. The highest score made, however, 71, is one jpoint in excess of any made ixt the last meeting of the New Zealand Association, under the same conditions, as, out of 154 competitors who fired iu three matches at Nelson, of exactly a similar character, the highest score was 70; and one of 63 gained a prize.
