It is generally believed that the war will soon be concluded. St. Petersburg, February 2. A conflict of a serious nature took place here to-day between the Nihilists and police. The rupture resulted in several Nihilists being arrested. Singapore, January 27. The Eastern Australian mail steamer Brisbane, from Sydney, got aground in the Arafara Sea for 96 hours. After jettisoning a considerable quantity of coals and part of her cargo, she got off and proceeded to this port where she will be docked and examined. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, February 3. Strong confirmation has been received as to the truth of Hume's story about Classan having survived some time in Central Australia. He has been dead some years, but it is believed that half-castes exist in Central Australiaj who speak German.
