IRISH RELIEF FUND.
A meeting of tbh Committee- for relieving the distress in. Ireland was held yesterday, at the Town-Hall, hia Worship the Mayor-(J. S. Fearn, l&q ) presiding; there were also present—Messrs Cuming, Killeen, Malony, Moran, Carew, Dungan, Carey, M‘Gee, Barff, Hanna, O’Hagan, and Dojggan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A vote of thanks was accorded to the manager of the Union Bank, for the liberal spirit shown by him in forwarding the last draft of .£l4O free of charge. Mr Dungan reported that, in accordance with the resolution of the Committee, he attended the public meeting at Stafford on the 28th nit., convened for the purpose of assisting in the relief of the Irish sufferers. A large and influential committee had been formed, and immediate steps would be taken to collect subscriptions in the Stafford district. The Treasurers were empowered to pay all accounts against the committee. The consideration of the Hey. Mr Root’s proposed lecture was deferred until next meeting, which is to take place on the 9th inst, at 8 o’clock.
