IRISH RELIEF FUND.
A meeting of the Irish Relief Fuud Committee was held yesterday, his Worship the Mayor presiding; there were also present Messrs Cuming, Dungan, Carey, Flynn, Power, Fitzsimons, O'llagau, and Duggan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outgoing coriespondence v/as read and approved of. A letter from Mr Sandle, M.U.C., expressing hid warm sympathy with
the movement, and signifying his intention of doing his utmost in co-opera-tion with this Committee was read and received. The names of Mr Biggs, Greenstone, and Mr Bladier, Arnhura, were added to the C >m rait tee. The Treasurers (his Worship the Mayor and Mr O'Hagan) repotted receiving up to the present time, subscriptions amounting to £134 63 Bd. They were empowered to forward same to the Lord Mayor of Dublin by the outgoing mail, in accordance with resolution of the previous meeting. Mr Dungan reported that in accordance with the resolution of the Committee, he had visited Goldsborough on the 22nd" January, and Stafford on the 23rd, and, having consulted with gentlemen of each district, he could state with pleasure that he met a warm and willing feeling of sympathy in both places in support of the Irish Relief Fund, and a desire among the people to contribute, as far as lay iu their power. A public meeting was called on Saturday, 24th inst., at Goldsborough, at which he was requested to attend. He there explained the object of his mission, and sought the co-operation of the district with Kumara, in furtherance of the object in view. He had promised the meeting that Goldsborough should be specially credited with the amount subscribed in that district. A large committee was appointed, and steps would be at once taken to collect subscriptions. Mr Dungan also reported that a public meeting would be convened at Stafford, to-morrow evening, for the same purpose. He also promised that special mention would be made of the amount subscribed in the Stafford district. On the motion of Mr Cuming, seconded by the Mayor, a vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Dungan for his services in obtaining the co-operation of Stafford and Waiinea. The meeting was then adjourned to Monday, 2nd prox.
