BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, December 31. Arrived—Ascalon, from Melbourne ; Benares from Port Chalmers; Orari, from Lytteltou; Ann Duthie, from Sydney. January 7. News has been received that an insurrection has broken out in Bolivia. The President is overthrown and has fled. The insurrection is attributed to the ill success of Bolivia in the war with Chili.
Capetown, Jauuary 6. The Secretary of the People's . Committee in Transvaal, recently arrested for treason, has been committed for trial. He has been liberated on bail. Calcutta, December 30.
At Lataband, Colonel Norman's force defeated the enemy under Ozmattntah, driving them back in the direction of Gundamuk.
