A PERILOUS RIDE.

It appears that he played truant from school on the prebeding day, and it is surmised dared not go hoirie at riiglltHe managed to get into the station yard at Chorley, with the intention of passing the night in one of the passenger carriages \ but he failed to, gain , access through the doors being locked, lie then seeriis to have crept under the guatd’a van, and pulled himself on the couple! of short iron rods between the axle di the wheels and the carriage floor, and between which the brake apparatus passes; In this unfortunate position he went to sleep, and at five dclbck in the monilng the tlrain started fob 'Wigan. The lad was actually brought to Wigan, and again take to Cliorley, clutching the rods; At the latter place he was discovered; still fast asleep, and rescued froui his perilous position. The marvel is how the lad remained on this frail support during his eighteen iriiles journey, arid asleep all the while. Had lie moVed ddatli was cettain;
