Up to the present time there is fto appearftttce of the Chrialcliurch coach with the mail due here last Saturday evening. From a private telegram received in town last evening, we learn that the coach from Christchurch had reached the Cass in Safety* with fourteen passengers 5 but owing to the flooded state of the rivers there was little chance of it proceeding from there this morning; The coach from Hokitika is Supposed to be at the Otira Gorge or th§ Taipo.
A special meeting of the Borotigh Council will be held to-morrow afternoon, at two o’clock, at the Town B>ll
Dhe dfetributidh df the prizes to the children of the State School, which was to have taken placd this evetllng, has been postponed in consequence df the Unfavorable weather. The date the presentations will take place on will be duly notified by advertisement.
