The Church Times relates the following under the head “’Cute:”—An American clergyman, being somewhat out of health, spent several weeks at a well-known watering-place in the States to recruit. Finding the church closed, he voluuteered to preach for the people during his stay. The church was ac j cording opened, and he ministered unto them in spiritual things to the#| appa-i rent acceptance. The preach* however, did not learn in what appreciation his labours were held until he prepared to take his departure, when his interested hearers sent him in a bill for the use of the church.
