PIEMAN RIVER GOLDFIELD TASMANIA.

Private intelligence reached Melbourne recently that a man had come into Launceston with?ooz. of gold, said to have been obtained on the Pieman River goldfield, on thfe (vest coast of Tasmania, another digger* having recently brought in a parcel oflfioz. from the same field. A number of diggers have ali'eady left Launceston for the workings. They either proceed by coasting steamer to Pieman River or from Emu Bay by tramway to the Mount Bischoft works, and thence through the bush to the goldfield, a distance of about 70 miles. A vessel named the Little Maud, which arrived at Circular Head recently, brought the news that a party of three men were earning an ounce and a half of gold aday. Om? Launceston corespondent telegraphs that the diggers are averaging half ail ounce of gold daily.
