A FATAL DREAM.

An inquest was held at Liverpool on the body of Edward Owens. Deceased was engaged as a watchman at a lead manufactory. On Saturday, he weut on duty at 2 p.m., and at 5 o’clock next morning a person in the neighbourhood heard him shouting, and on going into the works found deceased sitting near a lead pot, his shoes, being filled with molten lead. Witness pulled one shoe off, but was so sickened' with the sight that he ran for assistance. A doctor was called to deceased, who was removed to the Northern Hospital. Deceased stated to the policeman who removed him that he had lit a tire under the lead pot for his convenience. In his sleep he turned over, and his feet got .into the lead pot. His bed consisted of a sack of straw,' and was placed on a bench oh a level with the pot. The foreman of the works, who lived in the neighbourhood, stated that he was called to the Works on Sunday morning, and deceased told him that be must have been dreaming j that he thought it was Monday morning, and he wsis preparing for beginning work. The boiler fires were burning briskly,, and steam was blowing off at 401 b pressure. Witness drew the fires and gpt the steam down. There was a good tire under the lead pot, and the metal was red-hot, and had set fire to deceased’s bed. Deceased died on Thursday evening. The jury returned a verdict of “ Accidental death.” For remainder of news see last hage.
